“Female Centre of Excellence Mapping – The Football Association
Girls and Women’s football is now officially the largest participation sport for females in the country and has seen a rapid growth in participation over the last 5 years.
To ensure that the player pathway allows girls with potential to develop within the correct environments The FA has created and invested in Centres of Excellence where players can receive high quality coaching within a supportive and learning infra structure.
The FA commissioned Sportworks UK in July 2005 to visually plot the location of the Centres of Excellence (Female) throughout the country to support the future development of the Game and locate geographically where significant gaps were present.
Within very strict time scales a series of maps were produced of excellent quality that clearly identified the excellence element of the Game and aided a review and future planning for the development of girls and women’s football.
The service was of an excellent quality, reacting positively to changes throughout the deadline period ensuring the end product was specifically what The FA required”.
