A lasting legacy

Throughout the six days of competition the ‘come and try’ sessions attracted over 1,000 participants, many of whom had never tried the sport before. These sessions were supported by Sport England, who want to promote archery to both schools and community groups.

Susan Blake from the near by town of Deal commented on the taster sessions: ‘I didn’t expect to be able to have a go at such a major event but watching the competition made me determined to try. I had some very good coaching, they explained it well and I managed to hit some in the middle. I think I would like to up archery now and I will certainly look up my local club’.

The ‘come and try’ sessions provided an opportunity to showcase the sport and are integral to the 2012 legacy programme for archery.
