3000 spectators attend The European Canoe Slalom Championship

From 27-31 May, Sportworks went to Nottingham to oversee The European Canoe Slalom Championships.

The competition took place at the National Watersports Centre, where the white water course had recently profited from a £700,000 upgrade. The event marked fifteen years since the sport’s last major international competition.

The grounds were swarming with over 25 nations, 320 volunteers and nearly 3000 spectators.

Sportworks was asked to oversee accommodation for teams, event staff and guests. The consultancy ensured accommodation was provided at three hotels as well as using residential resources at the Watersports Centre.

Sportworks also arranged team transportation, airport collection and canoe and kayak transferrals for the athletes.

Stephen Minto, logistics manager of international sports event management company Sportworks said:

“The event was a great success. Our staff worked hard to make sure everything ran smoothly. In total we looked after close to 200 people, including competitors, team staff and event staff.”
