Getting Men's Health Up & Running

running

Did you know that current life expectancy for men is 4 years less than for women, that they are more than twice as likely than women to die of one of the top ten cancers, and that they are 3 times more likely to commit suicide?

Men’s Health Forum would like to invite you to attend the Kick-Off event for National Men’s Health Week 2010 at Chelsea FC (free event - please register online):

22 September 2009, 2-4pm
Chelsea Football Club, Bonetti Room, Stamford Bridge, London.

Men’s health is a big issue and one that is receiving an increasing amount of government interest.  The Men’s Health Forum works to give men equality when it comes to their health, through education, awareness, access to information and through innovative projects.

Next year the 8th Annual Men’s Health Week will be held all across the UK from 14-20 June 2010, with the theme of Physical Activity & Sport.  As well as increasing male participation in sport and encouraging more men and boys to be more physically active, one of the key aims is to develop the potential of sports venues for the delivery of health services and campaigns.

At the open meeting on 22 September there will be a chance for sports and health professionals to come together to help determine how we can do more to improve men’s health within a sports and leisure context.   Chaired by Dr Ian Banks, President, Men’s Health Forum, confirmed speakers include Simon Morgan, Premier League, and Jane Riley, Department of Health - Yorkshire and the Humber Public Health Group.

This is an invite only event and there is no charge for attending.

Further details will be sent to you after you register.  If you have any questions, or if you are unable to come but would still like to receive more information about the Week, please contact Kristin McCarthy k.mccarthy@menshealthforum.org.ukor call 020 7922 7908/0780 8862 963.
