Kids 'R8' Sport in Sheffield by taking a trip to the diary room
Derbyshire based Sportworks has been enlisted by Sheffield based Forge School Sport Partnership to develop a groundbreaking Big Brother style diary room technique as a means of tapping into young people's opinions about PE and School Sport.
Rather than asking pupils from 15 schools across the Partnership to complete questionnaires, this innovative communication tool - a confidential video diary experience - offers young people the chance to open up on discussions about sport and feed in their thoughts on what they would like to see more of in the future and how it affects their lives.
This project, entitled R8 Sport, is a first for Forge and is anticipated to record 200 pupil interviews.
A sophisticated and easily accessible consultation tool, the R8 Sport video package also uses advanced technology to collect and analyse the material that is gathered to produce a DVD to represent all the views expressed.
Commenting on the technology Bev Matthews, Forge Partnership Manager said: "A fresh approach to consultation, this product allows us to really get to the heart of young people's thoughts on the issue of sport in a fun yet extremely effective way”.
Tom Greenall of Sportworks added "The technique encourages young people to really open up. We hope that this kind of approach will be rolled out across other projects on the back of its success."
