Sportworks acquires WGT Sport Events
Derbyshire based specialist consultancy, Sportworks, has acquired WGT Sport Events.
The acquisition means Gary Hargraves, formerly of WGT Sport Limited, joins the consultancy as an equal shareholder and company director.
WGT Sport Events is a division of WGT Sport Limited, specialising in the provision of integrated travel, transport and accommodation.
Hargraves’ experience in logistics and international sport event management ensures he is well placed to lead on the strategic development of the Sportworks Logistics division of the company.
As a major industry player, Sportworks has secured tenders and forged partnerships with major governing bodies and organisations such as the FA, Archery GB, British Shooting, the British Canoe Union, the International Archery Association and The International Fencing Federation.
Having identified niche areas of opportunity in the industry, Sportworks has enjoyed an acute growth period in the last twelve months. The acquisition is a major boost to complement the consultancy’s existing offering, ensuring global travel, transport management and accommodation for world class sporting events is under the umbrella of integrated services.
Company director, Tom Wenham, commented on the growth strategy: “Gary brings incredible expertise to the team. His credentials and international experience in the industry ensure we are well placed to compete on a global scale.”
Added Gary Hargraves: “This is an exciting time for the business as Sportworks has secured a niche market role by offering an end-to-end service. No other organisation can parallel our ability to work with any client and develop a tailored concept, through to solution.
“From feasibility studies to financial modelling, venue procurement, sponsorship brokering and logistics management, we offer a complete service in one single point of contact.”
The consultancy has strong partnerships with national and international sports governing bodies and offers tactical support from a grass roots, local level through to the management of international world class sporting events.
