Sportworks attends BBC Sports Personality of the Year

Sportworks staff had a Christmas do with a difference this year.  The team headed out to the Sports Personality of the Year Awards at the Sheffield Arena, where Ryan Giggs surprised everyone (including himself) and took top prize, with the hotly-tipped Jenson Button in second, and home-town athlete Jessica Ennis in third.

Matt Green commented “It was a certainly a Christmas party to remember – working in sport and getting to see the iconic BBC awards as the culmination of a great sporting year was superb.  The programme was highly entertaining, the awards at times provoking tears, the set stunning, and of course being able to see such a slick “behind the scenes” BBC operation was fantastic.”

Fellow Director and Sheffield-based Gary Hargraves added “Seeing our very own Jessica Ennis take third place was superb – I had goose-bumps as the entire crowd got up on their feet and gave her a thoroughly deserved standing ovation.”
