Sportworks Commissioned to Manage Professional Development Courses

The National Association for Sports Development in the UK (NASD) has commissioned Sportworks, the Derbyshire based sports solutions company, to manage a national programme of professional sports development courses* to develop a better skilled and more qualified workforce in the sport and recreation sector.

With a current workforce of 621,000 in paid employment, working in 231,000 businesses and private, public and voluntary sector organisations across the UK, this industry has considerable growth forecasts with potential to more that triple in volume in the next two years.

In line with the Government's '21st Century Skills - Realising Our Potential' strategy published last year, Sportworks will be delivering the proposition to develop professional skills, which will have a direct impact on productivity, competitiveness and economic performance at local, regional and national levels.

With a programme set to launch in July, courses are aimed at Partnership Development Managers, School Sport Co-ordinators in School Sport Partnerships and Sports Development Officers in local authorities.

Commenting on this Andrea Kemp from Sportworks said: "There is a great opportunity to harness the potential and develop the skills of those working in sport, a sector which sees continuous employment growth year on year.

"We've been tasked with delivering the programme and are confident that the NASD courses will empower people in this sector to realise their full professional potential."
