Sportworks Newest Team Member Leslie on the Start of his Internship

Leslie

My name is Leslie Addy and I have recently joined Sportworks on a 3 month internship set up through Sheffield Hallam University. I am a recent Leeds University Sport Science and Physiology graduate, a keen 400m runner and an apparent lookalike of Shaun Wright-Phillips of Manchester City and England.

The current economic climate has made it very challenging for graduates like myself to obtain relevant industry experience and work. For me I was conscious not to enter a generic graduate scheme but to persevere in finding an organisation that particularly supported my aspirations for future work in events management and passion for sport, Sportworks' intern programme fitted the bill perfectly.

I have started my internship working on a project with Sportworks’ clients SEEDA (South East England Development Agency), hosting Pre Game Training Camps for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. I have been involved with strategic planning as well as organising a breakfast presentation to be delivered at the upcoming SportAccord Convention in Dubai.

Additionally, I have had exposure to Sportworks events management and logistics areas; creating ticketing formats for the Lacrosse World Championships to be held in Manchester this Summer.

This has been a great start to the programme and I am looking forward to the remainder of my time with Sportworks and continuing to gain valuable professional experience.
