Thousands sign up as LOCOG launches 2012 ticketing strategy
LOCOG, the London 2012 organising committee, launched the first stage of its Olympic ticketing strategy on Monday 22 March at Trafalgar Square, with the help of Olympic and Paralympic gold medallists Christine Ohuruogu and Eleanor Simmons and the BBC’s The One show hosts Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley.
Sport fans are urged to register their interest in tickets on a new website, with 40,000 people doing exactly that by lunch on the very first day! Signing up does not guarantee a ticket but does provide a short cut to the ticket ballot which will take place in spring 2011 should, if expected, the 8 million tickets available be oversubscribed.
