Managing & Leading Projects

Are you responsible for managing projects involving a range of
partners?

This one day course is the last of three workshops focusing on the skill development for the SSCo role. This workshop is about managing a project for which you have been given responsibility. It involves developing and agreeing a plan and objectives for the project, delegating responsibilities to team members and monitoring and controlling implementation of and changes to the plan. It also involves ensuring that the project achieves its key objectives and is completed on time and budget and to the satisfaction of the project funders and any key stakeholders. For example planning and organising an event.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course you will have:

  • identified the role and key skills of a project manager
  • identified the key stages in a project lifecycle
  • an understanding of how to ensure a project fits with the overall vision, aims and objectives of the SSP
  • an understanding of how to develop, in consultation with others a realistic plan for undertaking a project
  • an understanding of how to allocate roles and responsibilities and provide support and encouragement to team members
  • an understanding of the importance of effective
    communication prior to, during and after a project
  • implement the project plan, selecting and applying a range of basic project management tools and techniques to monitor, control and review progress
  • identified ways of categorising risks
  • communicate progress to stakeholders
